
On Saturday, April 5th, the Soo U18AA Greyhounds stepped onto the ice in Blind River, Ontario, with a mission: secure a spot in the highly anticipated 2025 Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) U18AA Championships. The Greyhounds faced off against the Sudbury U18AA Wolves in a best-of-three series, where the winner would earn the coveted ticket to Milton, Ontario, for the OHF Championships set to take place from Friday, April 18th to Sunday, April 20th.
Game 1: Greyhounds Claim Dominant 5-1 Victory
The series opener began at 10:00 a.m. in Blind River, and the Soo U18AA Greyhounds wasted no time asserting their dominance. With speed, skill, and precision, the Greyhounds overpowered the Sudbury Wolves, emerging with a 5-1 victory. The win gave the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead in the series and set the tone for a strong push towards the OHF Championship.
Game 2: Greyhounds Secure 6-4 Win, Advance to OHF Championships
Just a few hours later, at 3:00 p.m., the Soo U18AA Greyhounds were back on the ice, determined to finish the series and punch their ticket to Milton. The second game was a thrilling contest, with both teams battling fiercely. Ultimately, the Greyhounds edged out the Sudbury Wolves 6-4, securing a 2-0 series sweep and advancing to the 2025 Ontario Hockey Federation U18AA Championships for the third consecutive season.
The victory was a testament to the Greyhounds’ depth and skill, with key contributions from players across the lineup. The team’s focus and determination in both games underscored their readiness to compete at the highest level.
The Soo U18AA Greyhounds roster for the 2025 OHF U18AA Championships is a talented and determined group of players. U18AA Greyhound coach Mark Evans told Saultsports that “this year we are a well rounded squad and the team has been putting in the work both on and off the ice for the last seven months. The boys are mentally prepared and ready to skate among the top five teams in Ontario. Sault Ste. Marie is known for their gritty in your face fast pace hockey and that is what we are going to bring down there . Anything can happen on any given day! It has been a great season and I am looking forward to seeing these young men battle for their home town on April 18th and 19th in Milton, Ontario.

2025 OHF U18AA Championships Schedule
The Greyhounds will face off against some of the best teams in Ontario at the 2025 OHF U18AA Championships in Milton. The competition will feature top squads including the Milton Winterhawks, Oakville Rangers, Waterloo Wolves, and a representative from the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL).
The Soo U18AA Greyhounds will open their tournament on Friday, April 18th, at 10:00 a.m. against the Milton Winterhawks, followed by a 2:30 p.m. matchup against the Oakville Rangers. On day two, the Greyhounds will play the Waterloo Wolves at 9:00 a.m. and wrap up their day with a 4:15 p.m. showdown against the GTHL representative.
