Texas Wrestler, Brandon Carrillo to Join the Algoma Thunderbird Wrestling Program for Fall of 2025

The Algoma Thunderbirds Wrestling team announced Friday, April 25th the commitment of Brandon Carrillo from Spring, Texas!

A graduate of Klein High School, Brandon brings eight years of wrestling experience and an impressive list of accolades. He’s a 2x Texas State Tournament Placer, 4x Qualifier, Kansas Stampede All-American, 3x District Champion, and Regional and CFISD Champion. His excellence on the mat earned him Wrestler of the Year (Freshman and Sophomore) at Klein and THSCA Academic All-State recognition.

“I bring a lot of determination and competitiveness to the Thunderbird varsity team. I strive to be a supportive teammate and always work hard in both practice and tournaments.”

A dedicated student-athlete, Brandon has a long list of academic honors including National Honor Society, Cum Laude distinction, and a Class Rank of 45 out of 841. He’ll be joining Algoma’s Finance and Economics program and is certified in Revit and AutoCAD, with top placements at Technology Student Association events.

“I chose Algoma U because their wrestling team has a reputation for excellence and their academic programs align perfectly with my career goals. Studying in Canada is also a new and exciting opportunity to pursue my passions,” says Carrillo

Outside of wrestling, Brandon enjoys soccer, hiking, swimming, and working out.
