
On Tuesday, February 5th in junior and senior boys Sault Ste Marie High School basketball action, the Superior Heights Steelhawks traveled to White Pines to face the Wolverines while the Knights hosted the Korah Colts at St Mary’s College.
In junior action, the Superior Heights Steelhawks dominated the White Pines Wolverines with a decisive 50–21 victory at White Pines. Leading the charge for the Steelhawks was Daniel Briand with nine points, while Nik Joseph contributed eight points. On the opposing side, White Pines’ Dede Alabi put up a strong effort with 10 points, and Tristan Stadnisky added six.
In a tightly contested matchup, the Korah Colts edged out the St. Mary’s Knights 56-53 at St. Mary’s College. Deklyn Murdoch was the standout performer for the Colts, sinking 20 points, with teammate Tye Turco adding ten. Despite the loss, the Knights had strong individual performances from Charles McInnis, who led his team with 18 points, and Phoenix Bell, who added 11 points.
In senior action, the Superior Heights Steelhawks held on to secure a 65-62 victory over the White Pines Wolverines at White Pines. Nicholas Frost was instrumental in the win, leading the Steelhawks with 23 points. Bryaden Richard chipped in with 13 points, while Drayden Brock added eight. For the Wolverines, Ethan McCorkell had a solid performance with 16 points, followed closely by Anthony Hunt with 15 and Nick Louttit contributing 13 points in the tough loss.
Meanwhile, the Korah Colts cruised past the St. Mary’s Knights with a commanding 76-27 win at St. Mary’s College. Erik Martone led the charge for the Colts with 19 points, while Nathan Higham scored 17, and Zayne Murdoch added 15. The Knights struggled to keep up but saw contributions from Kian Kalalo, who scored nine points, and Gabe Banlaygas, who added eight points in the defeat.
