The fourth-place Superior Heights Steelhawks (5-11) hit the ice at the John Rhodes Community Centre on Thursday, January 30, to face the fifth-place White Pines Wolverines (0-16-0-1) in Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League action.
After a scoreless first period, Cameron Hernden opened the scoring for the Steelhawks in the second frame, netting his second goal of the season past Wolverines goaltender Ben Potter to give Superior Heights a 1-0 lead. Early in the third, Chad Gendron extended the Steelhawks’ advantage to 2-0 with his seventh goal of the campaign. White
Pines responded as Tristan Holzwarth found the back of the net for his eighth of the season, pulling the Wolverines within one.However, Superior Heights regained control when Tye Rushon tallied his fifth of the year, restoring the two-goal lead at 3-1. Cameron Knox capped off the victory, registering his third point of the game to seal a 4-1 win for the Steelhawks.
