The Soo U18 Greyhounds traveled to Peterborough, Ontario, from January 16th to 18th to compete in the prestigious 2025 Steve Richey Tournament. Joining 32 teams from across Ontario, the Greyhounds showcased their talent and determination on the ice. Leading the way offensively was Dylan Rousselle, who tallied three goals and one assist, with two of his goals coming on the powerplay. Forward Anthony Spironello matched Rousselle’s production with three goals and one assist, including a powerplay goal, while Hunter Thorkilson contributed three assists to round out the team’s top scorers. The trio’s contributions were instrumental in keeping the Greyhounds competitive throughout the tournament.
In net, the Greyhounds relied on the tandem of Nick Marson and Sebastien Brassard to handle the goaltending duties. Brassard played 90 minutes across his appearances, finishing with an impressive goals-against average (GAA) of 2.00 and allowing just four goals. Marson, who played 89 minutes in two games, faced tough competition and ended the tournament with a GAA of 3.03, allowing six goals. The combined efforts of the goaltenders, along with the team’s powerplay success, highlighted the Greyhounds’ balanced play at the 2025 Steve Richey Tournament.
Soo U18 coach Jeremy Stevenson told Saultsports that “the boys played really hard this weekend you can see the team is turning and having confidence playing the right way we competed with the number two team in Ontario and we won a couple games and that they’re playing very hard.”
