Over the January 17th to 19th weekend, the Soo U11AA Greyhounds participated in the highly competitive 2025 Oakville Winter Classic, where they joined eleven other teams from across Ontario. The round-robin portion of the tournament proved to be an impressive display of both offensive and defensive strength for the Greyhounds. They dominated their three games, not only remaining undefeated but also showcasing a near-perfect defensive record by allowing only one goal across all their round-robin matches.
On the offensive side, the Greyhounds were equally dominant, scoring a remarkable 19 goals throughout the round-robin play. Their potent attack and strong team chemistry allowed them to secure victories, setting the stage for an exciting finish in the tournament. The team’s ability to control the game at both ends of the ice highlighted their preparation and teamwork, leaving them in a strong position heading into the playoff rounds. The outstanding performance during the round robin affirmed the Greyhounds’ readiness to compete against some of the top teams in the province. Between the pipes Cole Suurna and Jack Gour only allowed one goal to find the back of the net during round robin action.
