
The Soo Thunderbirds announced Thursday, June 12th the signing of Windsor, Ontario native Jaxon Turnbull to their roster for the upcoming 2025-2026 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) season.
The 17-year-old forward brings size, skill, and scoring power to the Thunderbirds’ lineup. Standing at 6’5” and 230 lbs, Turnbull split his 2024-2025 campaign between the Wheatley Sharks of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJCHL) and the Biosteel Sports Academy U18 AAA program.
With the Wheatley Sharks, Turnbull made an immediate impact in his four appearances, recording two goals and one assist. His offensive firepower was further showcased with Biosteel Sports Academy, where he compiled an impressive 16 goals and 14 assists in 30 regular season games.
Thunderbird general manager told Saultsports that “Jaxon is much more than just a big body. He thinks the game really well. He has a really strong skill set and we are looking forward to getting to work with him.”
Turnbull will arrive in Sault Ste. Marie this fall ready to make his mark in the NOJHL and help the Thunderbirds continue their tradition of competitive excellence.
