On Thursday, June 5th, the Soo Thunderbirds proudly announced the commitment of Adam Pszeniczny, a promising 16-year-old forward from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, to their roster for the upcoming 2025–2026 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) season.
Pszeniczny, standing 6’1” and weighing 170 lbs, made a name for himself during the 2024–2025 season with the Soo U16 AAA Greyhounds in the GNU18HL, where he was coached by former NHLer Denny Lambert. Over the course of 30 regular season games, the dynamic forward posted impressive numbers—29 goals and 35 assists—proving to be a consistent offensive threat. His special teams presence was also notable, with five powerplay goals, one shorthanded tally, and five game-winning goals, while also accumulating 32 penalty minutes.
In postseason play, Pszeniczny continued to shine. He added one goal and three assists during the 2025 GNU18HL play-in tournament held in Sault Ste. Marie. At the GNU18HL postseason tournament in Timmins, Ontario, he contributed three more goals, including a powerplay marker, helping the U16 Greyhounds compete against the top teams in the province.
Further highlighting his development, Adam represented both the U16 Greyhounds and Team NOHA at the prestigious 2025 OHL Cup, where he showcased his talent on a bigger stage. His performance throughout the season caught the eye of OHL scouts, and in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection Draft, he was chosen in the eighth round (148th overall) by the Owen Sound Attack. Pszeniczny was also voted as the 2024-2025 NOHA Player of the Year.
Thunderbird coach Jamie Henderson told Saultsports that “’everyone we spoke to regarding Adam couldn’t say enough great things to be honest. His work ethic is outstanding and he has a real desire to be a great player. For us it’s also very important to add great people to our program and Adam certainly possesses the qualities on and off the ice we seek.”
“I am looking forward to taking the next step in my hockey journey. I plan on being a strong contributor to the team by being responsible in both ends of the ice as well as bringing size and speed. I pride myself on strong work ethic and a constant drive to success. The opportunity to play in the NOJHL against older players is a challenge I am looking forward to,” added Pszeniczny.
With his skill, size, and hockey IQ, Pszeniczny is poised to make an immediate impact as he takes the next step in his hockey career with the Soo Thunderbirds. His addition reinforces the Thunderbirds’ commitment to developing local talent and building a competitive roster for the 2025–2026 NOJHL season.
