The Algoma Thunderbirds announced Thursday, December 19th the addition of Paisley Pennington to their women’s soccer team. A goalkeeper with 14 years of experience, Paisley comes to us from Oshawa, Ontario, where she currently attends Maxwell Heights Secondary School.
Paisley has developed her skills through competitive play with FC Durham and North Toronto Soccer Club. She has showcased her talent in prestigious tournaments such as the Top Rated Series, FTF x VSC, and the Spring Showdown. Known for her strategic mindset and leadership on the field, Paisley is ready to make an impact with the Thunderbirds.
“I hope to bring communication, support play, and the ability to change the point of attack to relieve pressure and keep possession,” Paisley shared. “I also excel at closing down players on breakaways and cutting down shooting angles.” Her technical abilities and composure in goal make her a key asset to the team.
In addition to soccer, Paisley is passionate about cross country running, swimming, and reading. She has consistently excelled academically, earning Honour Roll recognition in grades 9, 10, and 11, as well as the award for the highest grade in Understanding Fashion. This fall, she will begin her studies in Law and Justice at Algoma University.
“I chose Algoma because I liked the environment and the size of the campus; it’s the right fit for me academically,” Paisley said. “After meeting some of the players on the soccer team, I knew it would be a great place to continue my athletic career.”
