
The Algoma Thunderbirds are proud to welcome Albin Rosenlund on Friday, May 23rd, a dynamic Shooting Guard from Norrköping, Sweden, to the men’s basketball roster!
Albin brings years of international experience to the Thunderbirds. He started playing basketball at age 6, developing through the elite Norrköping Dolphins program before continuing his collegiate career at Peninsula College in Washington State.
His impressive resume includes:
- NWAC competition
- EYBL (European Youth Basketball League)
- Swedish Division 3
- National Gold with the Eastern Regional Team of Sweden
A skilled shooter and vocal leader, Albin was recognized with the prestigious Art Feiro Award (2024–25), given to athletes who excel in leadership, athleticism, academics, and citizenship. He also earned Academic Quarterly Honors for his performance in the classroom.
“We are very excited to add Albin for the upcoming season,” says Head Coach, Ryan Vetrie. “He adds shooting, toughness and experience at the guard position. We believe he has the work ethic and the right mindset to make an impact immediately and years to come.”
“I will contribute with strong shooting and a tough mindset to succeed in my upcoming years at Algoma University. I also believe that my leadership will bring out the best in the group,” says Rosenlund.
Off the court, Albin enjoys cooking and spending quality time with friends and family. He’ll be studying Business Administration at Algoma U, drawn to the university for its perfect fit and potential to help him reach his goal of playing professionally overseas.
