TORONTO – Winners of 18 consecutive contests, the Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL) remain No. 1 in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Top 20 Rankings, announced Monday, January 20th.
Having not tasted defeat in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play since back on November 7, the defending Copeland Cup-McNamara Trophy title holders will enter their next contest with an overall record of 34-2-1-1.
Rolling along at No. 2 in the CJHL are the Melfort Mustangs (SJHL).
The defending Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Canterra Seeds Cup champions and 2024 Centennial Cup finalists, Melfort is 9-1 in their past 10 and continue to top the SJHL table in 2024-25 with a mark of 31-5-0-0.
On a 10-game heater, the Leamington Flyers (OJHL) are slotted No. 3 in the weekly listings, which are compiled by an independent scouting service.
Allowing only an Ontario Junior Hockey League-low 70 goals-against in their first 43 outings, the Flyers presently sport a record of 35-5-2-1.
Right behind them at No. 4 is another OJHL side, in the Trenton Golden Hawks.
Winners of six straight, Trenton is an equally solid 35-5-2-0 in league play, sitting just one point behind Leamington.
Rounding out the Top 5 are the Edmundston Blizzard (MHL).
As the front-runners of the Maritime Hockey League, Edmundston has a playoff spot firmly secured while having gone 31-6-1-1 to date.
