NOJHL names its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week
SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that goaltender Carter Vicente (French River Rapids); forward Cooper Fredericks (Soo Eagles) and netminder Maverick Fletcher (Iroquois Falls Storm) have been named its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Dec. 22.
Carter Vicente, (G) French River Rapids: Coming up big in his final start of 2024, Vicente was stellar in posting his first NOJHL shutout.
In that contest, the 18-year-old netminder from Rockwood, Ont., was credited with making 30 saves, including multiple stops on breakaways, in blanking Iroquois Falls Saturday.
So far this season, Vicente sits second among all league goalkeepers in saves with 554, through his first 18 appearances.
Cooper Fredericks, (F) Soo Eagles: A four-point night Friday, Fredericks tallied twice, featuring one while shorthanded, and dished out two assists helping the Eagles extend a winning streak to eight in succession.
Playing a pivotal part in his club’s current heater, the 20-year-old Miltona, Minn., product etched his name on the game sheet in each of those triumphs, highlighted by six multi-point performances.
Fredericks will enter the New Year sitting fourth in NOJHL scoring with 47 points on 24 tallies and 23 tallies.
Maverick Fletcher, (G) Iroquois Falls Storm: Keeping Iroquois Falls in each of his two appearances over the weekend, Fletcher certainly did his part between the pipes, making a league-high 72 stops.
From Sudbury, the 18-year-old Fletcher registered a crisp 1.51 goals-against average, along with a stellar .961 save percentage, in the time frame.
Tied for fifth among NOJHL goaltenders in wins since late October with six, his next victory will be the 20th during his time in the league.
