The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that the Hearst Lumberjacks duo of Tyler Patterson and Mathieu Comeau, along with Powassan Voodoos goaltender Austin Seibel, have been named its Three Stars of the Week, for the period ending February 23.
Tyler Patterson, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks: In four road games during the time frame, Patterson helped Hearst go unbeaten with three wins and a tie.
In those outings, the 20-year-old Newcastle, Ontario product tallied four times and assisted on seven others for an 11-point run. This included notching his 100th career NOJHL goal.
Etching his name on the game sheet in each of his past seven contests, Patterson has moved up into a tie for third in overall NOJHL scoring with 62 points.
Mathieu Comeau, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks: Joining Patterson with 11 points last week, Comeau excelled in the Lumberjacks unbeaten performance last week.
In all, the 19-year-old from Hearst scored once and set-up 10 others while extending a point streak to seven along the way.
Comeau has also jumped into a share of third spot in league offensive production with his 62 points. He also surpassed the 200-mark overall in his time with the Lumberjacks on 78 tallies and 131 helpers.
Austin Seibel, (G) Powassan Voodoos: Coming up with a solid start in his lone appearance during the period, Seibel backstopped Powassan in a return to the win column and improve their odds in securing a playoff spot.
Handling each of the final 36 shots he faced in a triumph over the Soo Thunderbirds Sunday, the 20-year-old from Coldstream, British Columbia reached the 10-victory plateau in his initial NOJHL campaign. This marked the 18th time in 2024-25 that he’s had appearances with 30, or more, stops in a match-up.
On the season, Seibel leads all league netminders in saves with 906 and has also faced the most shots-against at 989.
