SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State (LSSU) hockey program (8-11-1, 6-6-0 CCHA) fell to the Bowling Green Falcons (11-8-2, 6-4-2 CCHA) by a final score of 3-1 on Saturday, January 4th.
Both teams battled early, but Brett Phoh opened up the scoring for the Falcons midway through the opening period. Then, at the 15:37 mark, Ben Doran was able to take advantage of a power play to double up the score.
Sasha Teleguine (North Attleborough, Mass.) swung the momentum back toward the Lakers after tipping in a shot by Luke Levandowski (Rosemount, Minn.) with John Herrington (Hudson’s Hope, B.C.) also picking up an assist on the play, and the Lakers continued to apply pressure on the BGSU defense. However, Ethan Scardina managed to pull the Falcons back up by two scores as Bowling Green held on to the 3-1 victory.
The Lakers return to action on Friday, Jan. 10 when they travel across the Upper Peninsula to take on the Michigan Tech Huskies with puck drop scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
