On Thursday, January 16th, the first place (14-1) Korah Colts took to the ice to face the fifth place (0-14-0-1) White Pines Wolverines in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action.
The Korah Colts put on a commanding performance against the White Pines Wolverines, cruising to a resounding 17-1 victory in a high-scoring affair. The Colts showcased a balanced attack with contributions from all lines, delivering one of their most dominant wins of the season.
In the first period, Tyler Lang opened the scoring with his 16th goal of the season, giving Korah an early 1-0 lead. Griffin Albert quickly followed up, netting his 10th goal of the season to extend the lead to 2-0. The Wolverines found a glimmer of hope when Keenan Boissoneau capitalized on an opportunity, scoring his sixth of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, Colton Green restored the Colts’ two-goal cushion with his third goal of the season, closing the period at 3-1 in favor of Korah.
The Colts exploded offensively in the second, beginning with Deago Campagna’s 12th of the season to make it 4-1. Preston Miller continued the barrage with his 10th goal of the campaign, extending the lead to 5-1. Campagna struck again with his second goal of the game and 13th of the season, bringing the score to 6-1. Tyler Lang tallied his second of the game to push the lead further to 7-1, followed by Griffin Albert’s second goal of the night, making it 8-1. Preston Miller capped off the period with his second goal and fourth point of the game, giving Korah a commanding 9-1 lead heading into the third.
In the third, the Colts showed no signs of slowing down in the final frame. Samuel Caruso opened the scoring with his second goal and third point of the game, increasing the lead to 10-1. Campagna completed his hat trick with his 14th of the season, bringing his point total to four on the night. Koen Manchulenko added his 15th goal of the season unassisted, pushing the score to 12-1. Tucker Deschamp joined the scoring frenzy with his seventh of the season, followed by Campagna’s fourth goal of the game, extending the lead to 14-1.
Ethan Ferguson found the back of the net with an unassisted tally to make it 16-1 before Griffin Albert completed his second hat trick of the season, sealing the 17-1 win with his 12th goal of the year.
White Pines netminders Ben Potter and Thomas Bouchard faced an onslaught of shots, with Potter being replaced after a challenging second period.
The Colts’ overwhelming offense and defensive discipline ensured their dominance, leaving the Wolverines searching for answers. Korah will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup as they continue their push for a top playoff position.
Next up for the Colts and Wolverines will be Friday, January 17th when Korah hits the road to face the CASS Huskies in an 8:30 p.m puck drop while White Pines face the Huskies on Sunday, January 19th in an 6:30 p.m start.
