On Tuesday, January 21 in Sault Ste Marie High School Boys Junior and Senior Basketball action, the Colts hosted the White Pines Wolverines at Korah Collegiate while the Steelhawks took on the St Mary’s Knights at Superior Heights.
In junior action at Superior Heights, the second place (4-2) Knights defeated the (2-4) Steelhawks 60 to 44 with Isaac Lacasse leading the Knights with 18 points, Nishchay Dua had 12 and Nathan Grancic sinking nine points. Steelahwks were led by Daniel Briand with 16, Ben George and Landon Coulter both had eight points. The Colts won their Tuesday contest 88-28 over the Wolverines with Deklyn Murdoch with 21, Tye Turco with 15 and Paxton Brodie with 12. The Wolverines saw Dede Aldbi finding the basket for 16 points along with Christian Budd and Tristan Stadnisky both scoring five points a piece.
In senior action, the first place (6-0) Colts earned their seventh straight win of the season with a score of 80-27 over the visiting (3-3) second place Wolverines. Gevin Grisdale led the way for the Colts with 18 points followed by teammates, Zayne Murdoch and Eric Martone both sinking 12 points in their win. Nicholas Louttit scored seven points for White Pines while Nashoba Moore and Jacob Day each contributed five points. At Superior Heights, the fourth place (2-4) Knights needed overtime to earn their second win of the season in overtime with a 63 – 57 win over the third place (1-5) Steelhawks. Nicholas Frost led the Steelhawks with 25 points while Dylan Wooton sank eleven and Brayden Richard also added ten points. Leading the Knights in their win, Amare Botang scored 14 points while Lucas Carriere and Topher Barsanti found the basketball for 13 points each.
Next action in boy’s junior and senior high school action be in February 2025 with the Knights facing the Colts at St Mary’s College and Steelhawks heading the White Pines to meet the Wolverines on February 4th with tipoff times of 5:30 p.m (junior) and 7:00 p.m (senior).
