
On Sunday, February 2nd in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action, the second place (12-5) CASS Huskies took on the (0-17-0-1) White PInes Wolverines at the John Rhodes Centre.
The CASS Huskies skated to a dominant victory over the White Pines Wolverines, led by a stellar performance from Brody Kleist, who notched a hat trick to power his team to a 4-1 triumph.
The scoring opened early in the first period when Kleist found the back of the net for his 23rd goal of the season, slipping a shot past Wolverine netminder Ben Potter to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The momentum continued for CASS as Hayden Wells doubled the advantage with his 11th goal of the campaign, putting the Huskies up 2-0.
White Pines managed to cut into the lead before the end of the opening frame when Oliver Johnstone buried his eighth goal of the season behind Huskie goaltender Cash Roswell, bringing the Wolverines within one and closing out the first period with a 2-1 scoreline.
Kleist wasted no time re-establishing CASS’s control in the second period, striking early with his second goal of the game to extend the Huskies’ lead to 3-1. He wasn’t done there, as he completed his fourth hat trick of the season on a CASS power play, pushing the score to 4-1 and securing the Huskies’ victory.
