On Tuesday, January 7th, girls’ high school volleyball action in Sault Ste. Marie made its return with an exciting slate of games. In Junior and Senior competitions, teams were eager to kick off the 2025 portion of the season with intense matchups. The Korah Colts hosted the St. Mary’s Knights at Korah Collegiate, while the White Pines Wolverines faced off against the Superior Heights Steelhawks at White Pines. With both the Junior and Senior divisions in full swing, the games provided plenty of action for fans to enjoy.
In Junior action, the Superior Heights Steelhawks secured a convincing 2-0 victory over the White Pines Wolverines, winning 25-21 and 25-20 in straight sets. Superior Heights displayed solid teamwork and consistent play throughout the match. Meanwhile, the St. Mary’s Knights edged out the Korah Colts in a closely contested 2-1 battle with scores of 25-17, 25-27, and 15-11. St. Mary’s won the first set 25-20, but Korah responded with a 25-18 victory in the second. The final set, however, saw St. Mary’s regain control and win 15-9, securing a 2-1 overall victory.
In Senior action, the Superior Heights Steelhawks continued their dominant performance, defeating White Pines 2-0 with set scores of 25-14 and 25-22. Superior Heights showcased strong offensive and defensive play to secure the win. In the other Senior matchup, the St. Mary’s Knights also emerged victorious, beating Korah in straight sets 2-0, with scores of 25-20 and 25-17. Both teams in the Senior division showed great determination as they competed for valuable points as the season continues.
Next action in girls junior and senior high school volleyball will be on Tuesday, January 14th when the Steelhawks face the École Notre-Dame-du-Sault Voyageurs at Superior Heights while the White Pines Wolverines head west to meet the Colts at Korah Collegiate.
