SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Espanola Paper Kings have announced that forward Jack Anderson will attend Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., where he will further his education and continue his playing career with their American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I program.
A 20-year-old native of Waterford, Mich., Anderson had a solid 2024-25 campaign with the Paper Kings, finishing second in team scoring while establishing personal single-season bests in goals, assists and points with 19, 26 and 45 respectively.
Six of his markers came on the power play and he also had one shorthanded effort and a pair of game-winners.
In all, Anderson had a 27-point improvement from his rookie season with the Timmins Rock in 2023-24 where he had 10 markers and eight helpers in 47 contests.
In 95 career NOJHL contests, Anderson notched 29 tallies and helped set-up 34 more for 63 points.
“Having the opportunity to play in the NOJHL for the past two seasons was an exceptional experience,” offered Anderson.
He went on to add: “I credit the development I made on and off the ice to the strong relationships I made with my teammates, coaches, billets and staff. After playing in the NOJHL I feel confident and excited to continue on in college.”
With the commitment, Espanola general manager Marc Gagnon said: “Jack worked very hard during his time with the Paper Kings, and in the league. He was a leader on and off the ice. We wish him continued success at the next level.”
The Oakland Golden Grizzlies compete out of the seven-school Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League within the ACHA’s D-I conference.
