The Korah Colts senior girls soccer program are once again champions after claiming back-to-back titles at the Nipissing Invitational Tournament in North Bay on May 8th and 9th.
The defending champions from Korah Collegiate set the tone early in the tournament with a dominant 4-0 win over Timmins High. Addisyn Tremblay led the charge with a hat trick, while Kaitlyn Johnson added a fourth goal. Kira Foster recorded the shutout.
The second match saw the Colts takeon École secondaire catholique Sainte-Marie from New Liskeard. Korah cruised to a 3-0 victory, with goals coming from Tremblay, Johnson, and Mattea Bruni. Foster remained solid in goal, collecting her second shutout of the day.
On day two, the Colts were tested by St. Joseph-Scollard Hall of North Bay but emerged with a 3-1 win. Amy Clement found the back of the net twice, and Johnson added another to secure the win and a spot in the semifinals.
In an all-Korah semi-final matchup, the Senior Colts took on their Junior counterparts in a spirited intra-squad battle.
Goals from Lexi Shields and Taylor Majic gave the seniors a 2-0 win, with Foster once again with a solid performance in net.
The final match proved to be the toughest test yet. Facing a determined squad from Notre Dame (Sudbury), the Colts battled through an intense, physical game to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win. Kaitlyn Johnson stepped up in the clutch, scoring both goals to clinch the championship.
