Colts Dominate Steelhawks in High School Hockey Victory -

On Wednesday, January 8th, the Superior Heights Steelhawks faced off against the Korah Colts at the Northern Community Centre in a thrilling Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League matchup. Despite an early lead, the Steelhawks couldn’t maintain their momentum, as the Colts exploded for a dominant 8-3 victory.

The game started with an early spark from the Steelhawks. Cam Knox opened the scoring, netting his second of the season to give Superior Heights a 1-0 lead. The Steelhawks added to their advantage when Ryder Magee-Maranger scored on a powerplay, his fourth of the season, to extend the lead to 2-0.

However, the Colts weren’t going to back down. Korah responded quickly, with Nathan Guizzetti pulling his team within one by scoring early in the second period to make it 2-1. The Steelhawks fought back, with Chad Gendron scoring his fifth of the season to restore the Steelhawks’ two-goal lead, 3-1.

Korah continued to rally, with Deago Campagna firing his ninth goal of the season to bring the Colts within one at 3-2. Tyler Lang then tied the game at 3-3 with his eighth goal of the season, setting the stage for a high-paced finish.

The momentum swung in favor of the Colts as Koen Manchulenko gave Korah their first lead of the game, scoring to make it 4-3. Griffin Albert followed suit, adding his ninth of the season to push the Colts ahead 5-3. Lang was not done yet, as he added his second goal of the game, increasing Korah’s lead to 6-3.

The Colts would go on to dominate the third period. Tucker Deschamps opened the scoring for Korah in the third, giving his team a commanding 7-3 lead. Lang completed his hat trick, registering his third goal of the game to seal an 8-3 victory for the Colts, marking his first hat trick of the 2024-2025 season.

In net, Korah was led by goaltender Kylan Roy, who kept the Steelhawks at bay throughout the game. For Superior Heights, Danil Lipenski saw action in goal, facing a high-volume of shots from the potent Colts offense.

Next up for the Colts is a matchup against the CASS Huskies on Sunday, January 12th, at the John Rhodes Centre, with a 6:30 p.m. puck drop. The Steelhawks will also be in action that night, facing the White Pines Wolverines at 8:00 p.m. at the John Rhodes Centre.
