
The Korah Colts came out strong in game one of the 2025 Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League playoffs, securing a commanding 5-0 win over the CASS Huskies at the Northern Community Centre. With an impressive offensive display and a rock-solid performance in net, the Colts now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
The game remained scoreless until late in the second period when Maxim Battochio broke the deadlock at 13:56, netting his first goal of the postseason. Tyler Lang provided the lone assist on the play, setting the tone for Korah’s offensive surge. Just 44 seconds later, William Pusch capitalized on the momentum, scoring his second of the playoffs at 13:12. Colton Greene picked up an assist on Pusch’s tally, extending the Colts’ lead to 2-0.
Korah continued to press, and with only 27 seconds remaining in the second period, Preston Miller found the back of the net for his third goal of the playoffs. Pusch earned his second point of the night with an assist, giving the Colts a 3-0 cushion heading into the final frame.
The Colts didn’t let up in the third period. At 8:05, Koen Manchulenko scored an unassisted goal—his fifth of the postseason—to push the lead to 4-0. With just three minutes left in regulation, Deago Campagna sealed the deal with another unassisted goal, marking his first of the playoffs and capping off a dominant performance for Korah.
In goal, Payton Melchoirre stood tall for the Colts, turning away every Huskies’ attempt to secure a shutout victory and give his team a crucial Game One win.
With momentum on their side, the Colts will look to build on their success when they face off against the Huskies in Game Two on Sunday, February 23rd. The matchup is set for a 6:30 p.m. puck drop at the John Rhodes Centre and will be broadcast live on Saultsports TV.
