Overtime: Quenneville Delivers the Winner
In the extra frame, Tyler Quenneville emerged as the hero for the Huskies, scoring the game-winning goal to give CASS the 4-3 victory.
Implications
The victory cements the CASS Huskies’ status as league leaders, while the Korah Colts suffer their first loss of the season in a hard-fought contest. Both teams showcased their skill and determination, setting the stage for what could be an exciting rematch later in the season. This clash between the top two teams in the league was a display of high-caliber high school hockey, leaving fans eager for more as the season progresses.
CASS coach Spencer Lawrence told Saultsports that “Today was a hard-fought game, and I’m incredibly proud of how our team handled the challenge. We went down four minutes into the third period, but Gabe Stewart stepped up, finding a way to tie the game with 27 seconds left, sending it into overtime. In overtime, we took ahold of the opportunity, with Tyler Quenneville burying a huge rebound to secure the win! Tyler has been a huge asset to the team so far this season and we can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us. It was a total team effort, and moments like this are what make the game so special, especially in a school buyout game with 150 students in the stands right before the holiday break! I think the guys showed great composure, and played smart and I believe that’s what led us to the victory. We know there’s always room for improvement, and we need to keep pushing as the season progresses, especially with a strong team like Korah right on our heels in the standings!”
