Sault Female Hockey Association was proud to announce on Friday, April 18th that Alana Johnstone has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Debbie Sims Memorial Scholarship – an award that honours leadership, compassion, and the power of sport to shape young lives.
Alana exemplifies the spirit of this scholarship through her dedication to mentorship, her commitment to building inclusive spaces for girls in sport, and her belief in lifting others as she climbs. Her strength, drive, and kindness are everything this award stands for.
This scholarship was created in memory of Debbie Sims — a fierce advocate for girls in sport and a beloved leader who led with heart. We know Debbie would be so proud of Alana.
The award was presented by Shaylan Spurway, YNCU’s Manager of Communications and Community Impact, on Wednesday evening at the Sault Female Hockey Association Banquet — a fitting celebration surrounded by the hockey community Debbie cared so deeply about.
Please join us in celebrating this remarkable young woman and all she is set to achieve!
