This platform is to build a sense of community around sports in the Northern region with an emphasis on our shared humanity, and to give back to the communities.
NorthernSportsNetwork.com is an independent news organization, owned and operated by Jay Houslander and Kerilyn Trudel-Houslander, under the TruHous Media umbrella. (We also provide freelance writing and editing, public relations, and marketing consulting through TruHous Media.)
It is not, in any way, affiliated with any newspaper or other media outlets, though we do provide sports content to Saultsports.com..
The Northern Sports Network is mostly just Jay — though we get by with a little help from my friends.
And it is good to have friends.

If you’ve been reading Saultsports.com since it launched in March 2011 — and especially now that you know that it’s one person’s labour of love — you know we are passionate about local sports and the role it plays in our community. If you know us, you know we’ve been covering local sports in this area since 2011.
Athletics is an important part of each child’s development — and a lifeline for some — and the successes of our teams and athletes are a source of civic pride and something worth celebrating.
That’s our mission at NorthernSportsNetwork.com — celebrating the successes of our local teams and athletes — and we say “our” not because we have a massive staff but because we’re all in this together — me and all my friends.
In the last five years sports coverage by the media in Northern Ontario and E.U.P of Michigan has declined immensely. This has been for sports fans in Northern Ontario and area, leaving a sizable gap in coverage for sports both near and far. It was this which led to a series of windows being opened for TruHous Media to start fresh with offering Northern Sports Network (.com).
Northern Sports Network aims to speak to and with the people of the community, sharing stories and insights into both the local Northern Ontario and E.U.P of Michigan sports scene and beyond. Bringing a focus and light not only on the heavy-hitters but also teams and players that call Northern Ontario and E.U.P of Michigan home.
