SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Iroquois Falls Storm have announced that defenceman Martin Brusoe and forward Emrick Paradis have committed to a pair of collegiate programs where they’ll attend school and further their respective playing careers in the fall.
Brusoe, a 21-year-old from Madison, Wis., is off to NCAA Division III Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Conn., while Paridis, a 20-year-old Terrebonne, Que., product will be heading to Portage College in Lac La Biche, Alta.
Joining Iroquois Falls midway through the 2024-25 campaign from the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners, Brusoe went on to appear in 22 contests, scoring once and adding nine assists.
In all, he skated in 104 NOJHL games between the Storm and Gold Miners, notching a pair of tallies and helping set-up 25 others.
“Marty was a huge piece for our run to make the playoffs,” said Iroquois Falls head coach Alex Brisson. “His dedication and commitment to be better everyday
has earned him this next level opportunity. We’re proud to have been a part of his path to college hockey.”
“In discussing his commitment, Brusoe stated: “I’m extremely grateful for the Storm, who gave me the freedom to grow my game. Playing college hockey has been a goal of mine for a while and I’m beyond excited to be going to WCSU.”
As for Paridis, he was acquired by Iroquois Falls in mid-December from the Portage Terriers (MJHL) and appeared in 22 matchups where he notched four markers and dished out 10 helpers.
Included in this was a six-point run in the final week of the regular season, that saw him supply the game-winner in Storm’s finale as part of their late-season push t0 qualify for the playoffs.
In discussing Paradis, Brisson offered: “Emrick was a great addition to our team. His high motor and relentlessness brought him success in our league and that will continue for him at the next level.”
As for Paradis himself, he had this to say: “After an amazing experience with the Storm, I’m extremely excited to have earned the opportunity to join Portage College.”
The Western Connecticut State Wolves are gearing up to make the NCAA D-III debut in the 2025-26 season and will play out of the 10-school Little East Conference.
As for the Portage College Voyageurs, they are one of seven members of the ACAC.
