SUDBURY, Ont. – Espanola Paper Kings goaltender Connor Hatfield will continue his playing career and further his education in the fall, competing in the five-school British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League with the Logan Lake Miners.
Hatfield, a 20-year-old from Saskatoon, Sask., split the 2024-25 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League campaign with both Espanola and the Iroquois Falls Storm, seeing action in 11 games.
A two-year veteran of the NOJHL, Hatfield spent the 2023-24 season with the Storm and the Soo Thunderbirds.
In his time in the league, he appeared in 42 career contests, going 10-20-2-3-1 overall, seeing 2,280 minutes of game action.
His time between the pipes were the sixth-most among all NOJHL netminders over the past two seasons.
He also faced the third-highest shot total against with 1,627 attempts fired his way.
In discussing his commitment, Hatfield said: “Thanks to the Paper Kings and my teammates for giving me a great home to end my junior career. A shout out as well to the other teams I played for in the NOJHL, that shaped me as a player over the past two years. I’m super excited for the journey ahead and this league helped me prepare for success.”
The Miners’ men’s hockey program consists of student-athletes enrolled in full-time courses at Thompson Rivers University and Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, playing their home games at the Recreation Centre in Logan Lake, B.C.
