
The St. Mary’s Knight junior girl’s soccer team utilized strong team defense and offense to successfully capture the Nike Niagara Cup in Welland, Ontario on April 24th , 2025.
The Knights defeated St. John Henry Newman by a score of 2-0 to win the championship hosted in the Niagara Region. Blake Magli opened up the scoring by converting a pass from Aliyah Flammia ten minutes into the championship game to put the Knights up 1-0. Later in the first half, Mya Morin found a wide-open Reese Williams who drilled a shot over the goalkeeper’s head to make it 2-0.
St. Mary’s started their high school tournament with a 2-0 victory over the St. Paul’s Patriots from Niagara Falls. They followed that up with a 2-1 victory vs. St. John Henry and a 3-0 win over the St. Michael’s Mustangs. Their semi-final win set the stage for a rematch between St. John Henry Newman from Stoney Creek.

We are so proud of our Knights soccer players for their teamwork and tenacity on the pitch which resulted in a solid tournament win in Niagara”, said Michael Magli, Head Coach of the St. Mary’s Knight’s junior girl’s soccer squad.
St. Mary’s played some tough team defense allowing just one goal in the tournament.
Three shutouts were earned by Solana Aikens. Additional goal scorers for the Knights include Elle Iarusso, Alexandra Bishop, Allie Kitchen and Maya Robibaro.
The Nike Niagara Cup championship roster included: Aliyah Flammia, Allie Kitchen, Amelia Fiser, Alexandra Bishop, Addy Dunlop, Elle Iarusso, Blake Magli, Colbie Rowswell, Mya Morin, Madeleine Dagenais, Maya Robibaro, Meris McCabe, Reese Williams, Saija Maione, Solana Aikens, Sophia Bitonti, and Zoey Stefano.
