It’s now just over two weeks away from the start of the Centennial Cup in Calgary and the first Canadian Junior Hockey League member champion are the Braves de Valleyfield (LHJAAAQ).
Valleyfield earned their place into Centennial Cup by defeating the reigning Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League title-holder, Collège Français de Longueuil, in six games to capture the NAPA Cup.
That leaves 15 other CJHL clubs still in the running to see who will join the Braves as well as the Centennial Cup-host Calgary Canucks and fellow Alberta Junior Hockey League finalist, the Grande Prairie Storm, at the 10-team event, which runs May 8-18 at the Max Bell Centre.
There will be at least six different league winners heading to Calgary, including Valleyfield from the LHJAAAQ, as the CCHL; MHL; MJHL; OJHL and SIJHL will also have a new representative taking part.
A new Centennial Cup champion will also be crowned, as last season’s winner, the Collingwood Blues were dethroned earlier in the OJHL playoffs.
Here’s a look at where each of the nine CJHL league championship series currently stand as well as who their latest top postseason point getters and goaltenders are:
