A hometown dream came true on Wednesday, April 15th, as Soo U18 AAA Greyhound forward Gavin Killoran was selected in the second round, 27th overall, by the Soo Greyhounds in the 2025 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) U18 Priority Selection Draft.
Standing 6’0″ and weighing in at 160 lbs, Killoran has been a key offensive force for the U18 AAA Greyhounds throughout the 2024–2025 GNU18HL season. In 32 regular season games, the 17-year-old notched 18 goals and added 32 assists for a total of 50 points, while recording 24 minutes in penalties. Killoran’s offensive instincts and playmaking ability were on full display all season long, highlighted by four multi-point outings, including a memorable hat trick on November 24th, 2025, against the Kapuskasing Flyers.
Killoran carried his strong play into the postseason, contributing one goal and three assists in five games at the GNU18HL playoff tournament held in Timmins, Ontario. Known for his grit as much as his offensive production, he also racked up 24 penalty minutes during the tournament—showcasing a competitive edge and physical presence that adds depth to his overall game.
In addition to his success at the U18 level, Killoran also earned call-ups with the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), suiting up for both a regular season and postseason contest during the 2024–2025 campaign. The experience offered a glimpse of his ability to transition to the next level of competition.
Now, as the newest member of the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds, Killoran will have the unique opportunity to continue his development in front of his hometown crowd. His selection not only marks a significant milestone in his hockey journey, but also reinforces the strength of the Soo Greyhounds development system and the pipeline of local talent making its way to major junior hockey.
Congratulations to Gavin Killoran and his family on this exciting achievement and the start of a new chapter in the red and white. The Hounds’ faithful will no doubt be watching closely as one of their own takes the next step.
