The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday, April 14th that defenceman Spencer Horgan (Greater Sudbury Cubs); goaltender Karsen Chartier (Greater Sudbury Cubs) and forward Tyler Patterson (Hearst Lumberjacks) have been named its Three Stars of the Week, for the period ending April 13th.
Spencer Horgan, (D) Greater Sudbury Cubs: In a pair of road victories last week, Horgan led all league blueliners in points with five as the Cubs completed their four-game sweep of the Soo Thunderbirds.
The 20-year-old from Bowmanville, Ont., had a goal and three assists, including one on the deciding tally in the third contest, and another helper in closing out the series.
A product of the Quinte Red Devils U18 AAA system, Horgan leads all NOJHL rearguards in playoff point-per-game production (1.57) and sits second in scoring by D-men with 11 in seven outings, on two tallies and nine helpers.
Karsen Chartier, (G) Greater Sudbury Cubs: Chartier backstopped Greater Sudbury to wins in both of their contests during the time frame to close out their triumph over the Thunderbirds.
While going 2-0 for his hometown side, the 19-year-old netminder had a 1.50 goals-against average, along with a .939 save percentage and one shutout.
Playing his minor hockey with the Burlington Eagles AAA organization previously, Chartier is a perfect 7-0 in the NOJHL playoffs to date with a 2.19 GAA and a save mark of .922. His two shutouts top all league netminders in that department.
Tyler Patterson, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks: The veteran forward from Newcastle, Ont., did his part offensively helping Hearst finish off their semifinal win over Timmins.
Patterson had a team-high three goals and chipped in with an assist for the Lumberjacks to help send them to the NOJHL Final versus the Cubs.
Currently on a league-best nine-game point streak, the former Clarington Toros U16 AAA standout, has scored seven times and helped set-up five others for Hearst so far in the postseason. He also has points in 14 of his past 15 playoff outings, dating back to 2023.
