
Over the weekend of April 11th, the Soo U11A Greyhounds competed among 24 elite teams at the 2025 Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) Provincials in Toronto, Ontario, showcasing grit, determination, and teamwork en route to a well-earned bronze medal finish.
The Greyhounds opened the tournament early Friday morning with an 8:00 a.m matchup against the Whitby Wolves. The Soo squad came out strong, edging the Wolves 2–1 to set the tone for a competitive weekend.
Later that afternoon, at 2:30 p.m, the Greyhounds faced off against the Sarnia Lady Sting. In a back-and-forth contest, both teams displayed solid two-way play, with the game ending in a 3–3 draw.
Saturday brought more action for the Soo, beginning with a dominant 5–1 victory over the Stoney Creek Sabres. The Greyhounds’ offensive depth and defensive pressure were on full display, securing them a crucial win heading into the evening’s contest.
Their fourth game saw the Soo battle the Kanata Rangers in a tight, physical game. The Greyhounds came out on top once again, earning a 2–1 victory and booking their ticket to the semi-finals.
In Sunday’s early semi-final at 8:15 a.m, the Greyhounds faced a strong Lambeth Lancers team. Despite their best efforts, the Soo fell 5–1, marking their first loss of the tournament and setting up a bronze medal showdown against the Kincardine Kinucks.
With hardware on the line at 12:45 p.m Sunday afternoon, the Greyhounds dug deep one last time. When the final buzzer sounded, the Soo had clinched the bronze medal, capping off a successful weekend at the OWHA Provincials.
