After representing the Northern Ontario Division at the U14 OCUP Finals in Collingwood last week, Searchmont Ski Runners Kassandra Real and Benjamin Campbell have been selected to Represent Team Ontario at the U14 Cam Am Event. The two will travel to Mont Tremblant, QC at the end of the month to join the rest of the team, comprised of 30 total athletes.
Campbell had to sit out of pre and early season training due to an injury; “I’m really excited for the opportunity to race at Can-Ams! I’m looking forward to meeting and skiing with the Ontario team. I’d like to thank my SSR coaches who helped me get back on track after an injury early in the season. I’m having a lot of fun racing and want to soak it all in next week.”
Both are in their first year of the U14 program, with Real ranked 4th in the province. “I can’t wait to be a part of Team Ontario and go to Can Ams. Thank you to all my coaches at Searchmont Ski Runners for helping me train for races like this.” In addition to the Can Am Event, Real has already been invited to be a part of Team Ontario for the Whistler Cup in April. This is the highest level in alpine skiing for the U14 program in Canada, and draws in 440 athletes from over 18 countries.
