
After opening the 2025 OFSAA ‘AA’ Championships with a 5-3 victory over the twelfth-seeded St. Mary’s Crusaders of Hamilton, the seventh-ranked (1-0) Korah Colts returned to the ice at noon on Tuesday, March 18th, to face the fourteenth-ranked Patrick Fogarty Flames of Orillia, Ontario. The Flames were coming off a hard-fought 2-1 loss against the tournament’s top-seeded St. Theresa Titans of Belleville.
The Colts struck first as Deago Campagna netted his first goal of the tournament at 14:07 of the first period, beating Flames goaltender Carson King. Sam Caruso and Preston Miller provided the assists on the opening goal. However, Patrick Fogarty responded with a power-play goal at 11:13 when Nathan Abramovitch fired the tying marker past Korah netminder Kylan Roy, with Nolan Hutchinson drawing the lone assist. Less than a minute later, Zeke Neely gave the Flames their first lead of the game at 10:27, assisted by Abramovitch and Hutchinson.
Korah battled back in the second period, with Ethan Ferguson scoring his second goal of the championships unassisted at 11:37 to even the game at 2-2. However, the Flames regained the lead when Lucas Lynch found the back of Roy’s net with 2:36 left in the second, sending Patrick Fogarty into the intermission up 3-2.
The Colts wasted no time answering back in the final frame, as Maxim Battochio scored his first of the championships just 35 seconds into the third period to tie the game 3-3. Tyler Lang and Ferguson picked up the assists on the equalizer. But the Flames responded once again, with Neely firing home his second of the contest at 12:10 to restore Patrick Fogarty’s lead at 4-3, assisted by Brock McKay. The Flames sealed the victory at 7:52 when Hutchinson notched an unassisted goal, securing a 5-3 win for Patrick Fogarty.
With their record now at (1-1), the Korah Colts will face their toughest challenge yet in their final round-robin matchup of the 2025 OFSAA ‘AA’ Championships. They will take on the number-one ranked (2-0) St. Theresa Titans of Belleville at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19th, in Sudbury, with a spot in the playoff round on the line.
