Coming off a dominant 5-0 victory in Game One of the best-of-five series against the CASS Huskies on Friday, February 21st, the Korah Colts entered Game Two of the 2025 Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League City Championship with a 1-0 series lead. The two teams faced off once again at the John Rhodes Centre in Sault Ste Marie on Sunday, February 23rd, in a highly anticipated matchup.
The Colts struck first at 5:11 of the opening period when Tyler Lang found the back of the net behind Huskies’ goaltender Cash Roswell, giving Korah an early 1-0 advantage. Lang’s goal, his first of the postseason, was unassisted.
CASS responded on a power play just before the midway mark of the second period. At 9:41, Dom Corbett netted his fourth goal of the playoffs to even the score at 1-1, beating Colts’ netminder Kylan Roy. Tyler Quenneville was credited with the lone assist on Corbett’s tying goal.
With momentum on their side, the Huskies took the lead late in the second period. At 17:54, Ashton Young buried his first of the postseason, assisted by Austin Finlayson and Noah Smith, to give CASS a 2-1 advantage heading into the final frame.
In the dying moments of the game, with Kylan Roy on the bench for an extra attacker, Korah pushed hard for the equalizer. However, CASS sealed the victory with just 41 seconds remaining as Brody Kleist fired a shot from inside the Colts’ blue line, scoring an unassisted empty-net goal—his fifth of the postseason—to secure a 3-1 win for the Huskies.
Huskies’ goaltender Cash Roswell and defenseman Preston Miller were recognized for their strong performances, earning the Team Essentials and Wendy’s Restaurant Athletes of the Game honors.
With the series now tied at 1-1, the pivotal Game Three will take place on Tuesday, February 25th, at 3:30 p.m. at the Northern Community Centre. The game will be broadcast live on Saultsports TV and True North Radio as both teams look to gain the upper hand in the championship series.
