The 2025 Junior and Senior Sault Ste Marie High School City Volleyball Championships wrapped up on Thursday, February 13th at Superior Heights with an exciting display of talent and competition. Both the junior and senior divisions saw dominant performances from the St. Mary’s Knights, who secured their respective titles in hard-fought battles.
In the junior division after round-robin play, the junior final featured the undefeated St. Mary’s Knights taking on the Korah Colts. The championship match was intense, with the Knights claiming the first set 25-19. Despite a determined effort from the Colts, St. Mary’s secured victory in the second set 25-22, capturing the junior city championship title.
The senior division saw St. Mary’s continue their winning streak, going undefeated in round-robin play. Superior Heights secured second place and earned a spot in the championship against the Knights in a best-of-five matchup. Despite a strong effort from the Steelhawks, the Knights proved too powerful, sweeping the final in three straight sets: 25-22, 25-19, and 25-18.
Looking ahead to NOSSA, the competition isn’t over yet, as several teams will represent Sault Ste. Marie at the upcoming NOSSA Championships. The junior Korah Colts, Senior Superior Heights Steelhawks, and both junior and senior St. Mary’s Knights will compete in the AA and AAA divisions in North Bay over February 21 and 22, with final placements yet to be determined.
Additionally, the White Pines Wolverines will take on the A NOSSA competition in Chelmsford on February 21 and 22, while the Voyageurs will serve as the host for the B NOSSA Championships in Sault Ste Marie at Notre-Dame du Sault on Friday, February 21st.
