SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women’s basketball team (5-13, 2-8 GLIAC) is set to host the Ferris State Bulldogs (14-5, 8-2 GLIAC) on Thursday, January 30th, and then on Saturday, February 1st they will take on GLIAC newcomers, the Roosevelt Lakers.
Thursday, January 30: Lake Superior State Lakers vs. Ferris State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs came away with the victory in the first meeting between these two programs, but the Lakers were still able to come out of the gate strong with an impressive opening quarter of action.
The first 500 fans on Thursday will receive a free rally towel, courtesy of Norris Contracting.
Key Players:
Grace Bradford (LSSU): Bradford recorded a 20-point performance in Big Rapids back in December while shooting 67% from the floor. She also stands alone as the GLIAC’s top rebounder at 9.1 boards per game.
Mya Hiram (Ferris State): Hiram proved to be very effective in the previous matchup between these two programs with 19 points in only 15 minutes of action.
Saturday, February 1: Lake Superior State Lakers vs. Roosevelt Lakers
On Saturday, the Lakers will have to quickly refocus as they host GLIAC newcomers, Roosevelt, in a key battle to try and secure the head-to-head tiebreaker over RU with a season sweep.
Key Players:
Breah Golden (LSSU): Golden went off from beyond the arc in the previous meeting between these two programs, shooting 6-8 from three point range, including the eventual game winner to help her team come back from down double-digits in the Windy City.
Jayla Turchin (Roosevelt): Turchin proved to be a force on the glass the last time these teams faced off, coming away with 16 rebounds.
