saultsports SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Henry Ouellet (Hearst Lumberjacks); goaltender James Meredith (Espanola Paper Kings) and defenceman Marcus Krats (Powassan Voodoos) have been named its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Jan. 26.
Henry Ouellet, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks: Collecting back-to-back three-point outings, Ouellet’s offensive efforts helped Hearst pick-up a pair of home ice victories.
The St-Alexandre, Que., product, who turned 19 Sunday, began his run with a goal and two assists in a triumph versus French River before doing likewise against the Soo Thunderbirds.
With 14 multi-point performances this season with the Lumberjacks, Ouellet currently sits second in team scoring with 47 points in 33 outings. He’s also tied for seventh in overall NOJHL numbers.
James Meredith, (G) Espanola Paper Kings: The 17-year-old from Vaughan, Ont., stopped an impressive 57 of the 59 shots he faced Friday in backstopping Espanola to a victory versus the Greater Sudbury Cubs.
That halted the league-leaders impressive 20-game winning streak in the process and marked the third time this campaign that Meredith has faced 50, or more, shots in a game.
In five appearances since the beginning of January, the Paper Kings’ goaltender sports the second-best save percentage in the league at .948.
Marcus Krats, (D) Powassan Voodoos: Krats did his part at both ends of the ice in a pair of Powassan wins during the time frame against two of the top four teams in the standings.
Hailing from Labrador City, N.L., the 20-year-old blueliner assisted on a shorthanded marker in a narrow decision versus Blind River Saturday, then notched the game-winner in a meeting with the Soo Eagles Sunday. He was also only on the ice for one-goal against over the course of the weekend.
In his first season with the Voodoos, Krats tops all defencemen on the club in scoring with 18 points on six tallies and a dozen helpers.
